There is not a single redeeming quality to this car. It is crap un every way. I honestly don't understand how it could have possibly sold in the numbers it did.

I've driven almost all competition for this, the gens of Altima, two gens of stratus, maxima, legacy, aurora, i30, spirit, Jetta, Passat, accord... Every single car does everything better than this.

If you need to get your ass from point A to point B with no idea of what driving something fun is like, then you have a Camry. It is a simple car that was made for a market that doesn't know to change a flat.

The Camry really started to get ungainly and big in 2002. The 97-01 model was OK. The 02-06 Camry's only redeeming quality was the handsome Camry SE, which had a pretty powerful 3.3-liter V6 and nice-looking alloys.

This.

The '97-'01 Camry was not bad. It reminded me a lot of my old 2nd-gen Prizm, everything felt screwed together well. When I worked for a major car rental company and we got the '02 Camry, I remember being put off immediately by the terrible hard plastics. It was just so damn blah in every other respect, too.

The Toyota Camry is the all-cotton tighty-whiteys of the auto industry. There are a lot of other choices out there that might be more practical, more comfortable, more durable, more fashionable, more flattering, more attractive... but you will never find out because you like your tighty-whiteys just fine, thank you.
